In my previous article, I showed you how to change your limiting beliefs. This article will tell you how to bypass the conscious mind and make changes on the subconscious level.
One of the ingredients to make subconscious changes is to access the alpha state. This is your state of mind that is more susceptible to suggestions.
By altering your consciousness, you enter into a state of mind where you are relaxed and your subconscious mind is more active. It is your sleepy, relaxing mode.
Any change is done in the subconscious mind. Any change needs you to access a different state of mind.
Accessing the Alpha State
Here are 5 quick techniques for entering the alpha state so that you can change your limiting beliefs:
- Focus on an object
Focus on an object and stare at it. Anytime we fixate our eyes to something, we induce ourselves into a trance state quickly.
We can use candles or a cross as symbols to focus on. The subconscious mind responds to symbols more than anything. The tools you use are solely your preference.
Use your peripheral vision. You’ll notice how relaxed you become.
- Soft and Soothing Sounds
Use soothing music or rhythmic beats. The frequency of soft and soothing music changes our brainwave frequencies as we adjust to it.
In other words, Relaxing sounds influences your state of relaxation.
We can also listen to chanting and slow monotone voices. Slow monotone voices are usually used to bore the mind into a calm mood.
Have you noticed that when the light is dim, you fall asleep more easily? The lighting of the room can have an effect on your state of mind.
Low dim light, especially in a comfortable room, induces a relaxation sensation that gets you into the alpha state.
Group dynamics are very powerful and are very subtle. This should be used carefully as we would want to choose the right groups to begin with.
Whatever activity are done within the group will reinforce the beliefs and practices. Leaving the group early, showing up late, or challenging the group can change the group dynamics.
I suggest that whoever the leader is must also be taken into account because that person is the one directing the energy for the session.
A supportive group can give us the validation for our beliefs when we are in the alpha state.
- Vegan Diet
A vegan diet like fruits, vegetables, and brown rice lowers acidity of the body. This increases the level of carbon dioxide reaching the brain, making it easier for you to enter the alpha state.
Of course we know that less animal protein and less fat is a healthy diet, be careful not to change your diet suddenly.
Sudden changes, especially when surrounded by negative influences, can have severe effects on your belief systems without your awareness.
What to do after accessing the alpha state
The alpha state is not trance or meditation. But the alpha state can access your subconscious mind more readily.
When we are in the alpha state, we can begin to program our beliefs. We can now use affirmations, visualizations, or take small actions.
How to Change Your Limiting Beliefs (Accessing Alpha State)
Use these in the alpha state and you will change your limiting beliefs.
- Affirmations: Calm yourself and state your intention positively. Give suggestions to your subconscious mind that helps with your new belief.
- Visualization: Visualize your limiting belief disappearing and replaced by a new belief. For example, if my limiting belief is “I can’t clean”, then imagine your black&white self replaced by a colored version of yourself who love cleaning and does it well. Use your creativity to symbolize replacing your limiting belief.
- Small Actions: Take small actions that rewards your new beliefs and avoid your limiting beliefs.
We can face our limiting beliefs through repetitive suggestions to convince our subconscious mind the new beliefs. But every suggestions are made when entering the alpha state.

- Bring your limiting beliefs to awareness (be careful not to entertain it)
- Consciously decide to challenge your limiting beliefs
- Get into the alpha state
- State your intention to your desired state in the alpha state (do it repeatedly or daily)
- Take small actions and build it up
If you want to change your limiting beliefs, you change it from the core – your subconscious mind.
By changing your limiting beliefs, you are breaking your limitation and becoming closer to your empowered self.
