The 3 Types of Energy
There are 3 types of energy that all energy work is based on.
If we are going to work with energy, it is strongly recommended to know what kind of energy we are using.
All Energy is One Energy
Now keep in mind that even though these 3 energy types are different, they all come from one source.
All energy comes from Source because energy is the thing the universe is made of.
But what makes some energy different than others is how we go about it.
Some methods are preferable to a certain emphasis in outcome.
Below I give what the method means, any variations from that method, and the pros and cons of each one.
What is Chi Method?
Chi, Ki, mana energy = a method of creating energy from your internal energy.
Chi energy is what I would call “physical energy” or the energy used for material and physical purposes.
It is often used for the human body by the human body. In martial arts, chi enhances the movement flow. In eastern medicines, it enhances body health.
The nature of chi is both electric and magnetic. We get chi energy from food, water, and air.
If the aim of the chi practitioner is high and spiritual, then he transforms chi into spiritual power. But if the aim is material and selfish, then chi energy works independently on its own will.
Chi can be used for good like the energy of high priests and energy masters or it can be for evil like Hitler and charismatic cultists. Intention is what makes the difference.
Pros and Cons of Chi
- Immediate access of energy whenever you want
- You strengthen your body and health and awareness
- Extremely powerful
- You have to store a lot, and can take a long time in practice
- It’s harder to use it
- You’ll more likely need a mentor to help you
Variations of Chi Energy
Chi energy is used primarily for internal energy.
This means that the energy comes from inside the body projected outside.
Jing energy = the birth force
It is one of the three treasures of the daoist tradition.
When enough chi energy is compressed, it compacts into jing.
By saying compressed, it is not meant that you can compress chi into jing energy. It means that jing is more dense than chi or more physical than chi energy.
While chi energy is subtle, jing energy can affect the physical world.
This is the basis of our functioning body. Without it, we don’t live.
Jing comes from your parents and each person has a finite amount. When we are born, we take the combination of our parent’s life force to live. It’s the energy we started with. This is what people call “healthy genes”.
You can say, it is your “gene energy” or “DNA energy”. In theology, Jing would correspond to the Vital body of Man. But we shall call it “Birth Energy”. The body of vitality is what I would term “the person’s Health Point (HP)”, where zero = death.
Jing is your life reserve, so to speak. It is precious because it impacts your lifespan. This birth energy is limited. You can’t change, alter it, or increase it in any way. The only thing one can do is to clean it with tonic herbs.
What is it like to waste Jing energy? You waste it when you enter the extreme emergency situation that calls for energy boost. Your adrenal response goes up the roof. In fact, one lady has lifted up a car with her bare hands with Jing energy to find her son.
It feels like you are invincible in this mode. But unfortunately, you use Jing energy at the cost of your life reserve. If you wish to live a long life, preserve your Jing energy.
What is Psi Method?
Psi energy = mental energy
This is where all the psychic powers come from.
Psi energy deals with the astral and mental energies.
One would think of telepathy, empathy, and other psychic phenomena.
It is what makes it possible.
Pros and Cons of Psi Energy
- Easier and Faster to Access
- You get to use energy from outside of you
- Directly influence emotional and mental level
- You must be in the right state of consciousness at all time
- You need to have strong Will and Focus
- Powers vary depending on environment and mental focus
Variations of Psi Energy
Psi energy affects the emotions and mind, including social energy.
This energy is the ‘vibe’ that you get.
It is also linked with sexual energy.
When I speak about social energy, I do not mean good manners or acceptable behavior.
Social energy directly affects the vibe field.
Thus, you can live in another part of the world with different cultures and people universally will be able to affect others by their vibe.
One can influence others socially or attract others by just walking in the room.
Although this is social energy, it is more like “Astral energy” or “Emotional energy”.
But since it is mostly used for social cases, I will keep the name.
What is Spiritual Energy?
While the 2 types of energy above can be harnessed through practice, spiritual energy can only be given.
Chi energy brings it into the center of the body before use.
Psi energy brings in the mind before use.
The daoist tradition has coined this as “Shen”, which means “Spirit”.
The quality of this energy is akin to a peaceful presence.
Spiritual energy can only be developed by having a balanced mind (psi energy) and body (chi energy). It automatically comes to you as you become wiser and closer to the spiritual.
Without a healthy body, you can’t have a strong mind. Without a strong mind, you can’t have a strong spirit.
When you have spiritual energy, you have a sense of purpose, integrity, happiness and peace in your life. You feel wholesome and more integrated. You see the bigger picture and able to be present in the moment.
When you develop greater spiritual energy, there is a glow about you – a light which enlightens others.
Those who have less spirit feels divided, don’t know who they are, lack morals or conscience. They can’t decide, feels lost, and can’t get their priorities straight. It is as if they entered a deep depression and hopelessness even if they are successful.
How to use Spiritual Energy
The man with spiritual energy, who is on the path to enlightenment, can use both the powers of chi energy and the psi energy without needing to practice.
Aspiring for enlightenment with a quality of thoughts and intention lead to the presence of spiritual energy.
Pros and Cons of Spiritual Energy
- Both chi and psi energy without effort
- Path to Enlightenment
- Happiness and Peace and Clarity
- More spiritually connected
- It’s not easy
- You don’t want to use any power
Energy is Energy, The Types Interchangeable
Although I define Chi energy as internal and Psi as external, due to their emphasis, strengthening one type can also strengthen the other.
Practicing psi energy can allow you to become more sensitive to feel. This sensitivity to feel can allow you to feel your chi energy. You might be drawn to one type or the other, or both.
Emptying Your Mind
Now that you know the 3 types of energy, it’s time that you should discard these terms and not hold onto concepts.
They mean very little.
We should not get stuck in energy it is. It does not help to go through life separating chi and psi energy. Or to think of what energy you are using or not using.
It’s only useful to separate the terms when we are comparing them in specific contexts.
