“Be still! The crown of life is silentness…” – A.L. Salmon
Words are powerful, but silence is more powerful still.
The greatest men teaches us most effectively not by words.
You can be the most clever talker. You can say the most profound truths.
And you can have all the answers to prove to others your way.
But at the end of the day, the loudest one in the room is usually the weakest.
One who conserves his speeches conserves his power.
For the strong and spiritually matured are silent.
Words Waste Energy
When you muster to speak, you share your energy to others.
Knowing when to speak and what to say is the same as controlling your energy.
If you can conserve your energy, you have more.
You can do more, live longer, and have greater power when you do speak.
But by spreading one’s tongue, we find no strength in feeble talks.
He is like a small dog – bark a lot but quite harmless.
When one argues, gossips, and babbles on, he lost a portion of his energy out into the void.
He talks many, but says nothing.
His mind is ever on the defensive.
Words running through his mind like the sounds of trains never-ending.
He is not at peace. His mind uncontrolled. And his energy gone instantly.
The Silent One is the Powerful One
Silence is the mark of a strong and understanding soul.
The thoughtless are unkind and weak because they immediately attack at the slightest provocation.
But look at Jesus and Buddha who never uttered a word in vain.
And observe the Alpha Males in their society whose silence commands the attention of their tribe.
The bull dog that steadies its silence are much known to be feared.
You know silence speaks volumes.
After all, silence means that your energy is concentrated and not wasted.
When energy is concentrated, it is powerful.
You can achieve all your goals, worldly or spiritual, by overcoming the mind.
And the greatest way to overcome the mind is to work silently.
How to Practice Silence
Learn the power of silence so that you can be strong, useful, and spiritual.
How powerful is the state of quietude?
Imagine the words spoken by the Universe and God.
You can only hear it in silence. You can only work in silence.
Silence IS the power of the Universe and the work of God itself.
It is like the stillness in the pond clear and beautiful.
Here are 3 ways to practice silence.
1. Do not talk about yourself endlessly.
Listen to the ones rambling on constantly and you will find no strength in their words.
You find that many people filters the endless talkers, especially when they only talk about themselves.
When words are many, impact is low.
But when words are few, impact is high.
Value the way you talk because the less you say, the more you speak in other ways.
This includes speaking with your body language or the vibe you give off.
70% of our communication is non-verbal and subconscious than the words we give it.
Allow yourself to control the times you talk by speaking intently.
When you do speak, speak with intention.
You do this by saying the words while thinking the words at the same time.
2. Do not speak of your plans but do them earnestly.
If you talk about your plans and what you will do, you will feel accomplished.
You will feel proud.
But you will fail simply because you wasted energy in talking instead of doing.
Let your work speak for itself.
Use your energy to do the work rather than talking about it.
3. Let your opponent win.
No one wins in an argument where no one is willing to change.
It is a waste of energy.
You become defensive. They become defensive.
It is no longer about finding the middle ground or discovering a truth.
Each person ties their beliefs with their self-worth and so an attack on belief is psychologically an attack on their survival.
Do not engage a battle with a fool who talks but has nothing to say.
Instead, let them win.
Walk away with peace in your mind.
Let the talker live and die with his own words intact.
Do not take the gift which he gives you because he wants you to return the favour.
They want you to keep talking and waste your energy.
Be strong. Stay silent. Keep the peace.
Be like water absorbing bullets. They will run out of ammo soon enough.
Let them win by appearing defeated. Be happy when you are defeated because you are becoming wise.
After all, no can improve themselves when they think there is nothing to learn.
In years time, you will find that you will grow and change while the talker stays the same none the wiser.
Silent not only in Words but in Mind
True silence is not about holding one’s tongue at all cost but keeping your mind silent.
If you were to stay quiet but your mind has disturbing thoughts, you will radiate weakness.
It is the opposite of strength and power.
This weakness leads others to the conclusion, based on sensing your aura and body language, that you are quiet and shy.
To be powerful is to be silent in the mind and having peace in your soul.
Have no disturbance in your mind.
Many people thinks that talking shallowly is doing something.
But it is the silent mind which performs more productively because the mind is under control.
The more you are silent in your words, the stiller your mind will become.
And the more your mind is still, the more you successfully govern yourself.
This leads to peace, success, self-mastery, productivity, and blessed state of quiet purpose and power.
